About us

The Baby Boarder Stick was originally created for Nate Meckes’ nephew, Bond, to get him into snowboarding at just over 16 months old. Nate Meckes is a professional snowboard instructor with over 20 years of experience, teaching all ages and abilities. “I was told I couldn’t snowboard until I was 10, same as many other children are told. But that just isn’t true, I see little rippers at 5 or 6 and I wanted my nephew to choose which sport he’d like to start with… he chose snowboarding with a little nudge from the fam!” Recalls Nate. After creating the first prototype and taking Bond from the magic carpet, to lifts and even through the trees and moguls, there was really something to be said for the Baby Boarder Stick. If a little baby can do this, why not 2-, 3-, or 4-year-olds? Nate got the Boarder Stick into the hands of other instructors and started testing it out. If not anything else, instructors that used to dread teaching the little ones had a blast! With even more testing and development, we started to notice that not only was the Baby Boarder fun, but kids were also really picking up on the movement patterns of snowboarding. Since the first prototype was made, stronger base plates, more rigid handles and an easier disconnect system have made the Baby Boarder Stick strong enough to take even 7-year-olds out on the mountain!!!
