Installation
Read all instructions before installation. The BabyBoarder Stick must be installed by a responsible adult. If you are unsure whether the product is compatible with your snowboard or bindings, do not install or use it until compatibility has been confirmed.
What You Will Need
- BabyBoarder Stick
- BabyBoarder Handle
- BabyBoarder base plate
- Included mounting screws
- Screwdriver
- The snowboard and bindings
Important: Use the included screws when securing the rear binding over the base plate. They are slightly longer than standard binding screws to accommodate the added thickness of the base plate.
Installation Instructions
1. Determine the Rider's Stance
First, determine which foot the student prefers to place at the front of the snowboard:
- Regular stance: Left foot forward
- Goofy stance: Right foot forward
The base plate is installed beneath the rear binding, so identifying the rider's stance is essential before installation.
If the rider has not established a preferred stance, have a qualified snowboard instructor help determine a comfortable setup. You can find more information in the "Tips and Tricks" section.
2. Record the Rear Binding Position
Before removing the rear binding, note its:
- Mounting-hole position
- Binding angle
- Centering across the snowboard
- Stance width
Taking a clear photo before removal can make it easier to reproduce the original setup.
3. Remove the Rear Binding
Using the appropriate screwdriver:
- Loosen and remove the screws securing the rear binding.
- Keep the binding disc and other binding components together.
- Lift the rear binding from the snowboard.
- Inspect the board's inserts, binding, and hardware for damage or excessive wear.
Do not continue if any mounting insert, binding component, or screw thread appears damaged.
4. Position the BabyBoarder Base Plate
Place the BabyBoarder base plate in the designated position beneath the rear binding.
Make sure:
- The base plate is correctly oriented for the rider's regular or goofy stance.
- The correct mounting holes are aligned.
- The plate sits flat against the snowboard.
- The plate does not cover or interfere with any required binding component.
- The BabyBoarder Stick will extend in the intended direction when attached.
Do not drill new holes or modify the snowboard, binding, or base plate.
5. Reinstall the Rear Binding
Return the rear binding to its original position over the base plate. Match the stance width, angle, mounting position, and centering recorded before removal.
Insert the slightly longer screws included with the BabyBoarder Stick through the binding and base plate and into the snowboard's threaded inserts.
Start every screw by hand before tightening any screw fully. Each screw should turn smoothly. If a screw binds, feels cross-threaded, or requires unusual force, stop and remove it.
6. Tighten the Screws Evenly
Tighten the screws gradually in an alternating or crosswise pattern so the binding and base plate seat evenly.
- Use only the included screws.
- Do not use power tools.
- Do not overtighten.
- Do not use a screw that bottoms out before securely clamping the binding and base plate.
- Follow the snowboard and binding manufacturers' torque requirements where provided.
When properly installed, the binding and base plate should sit securely without gaps, rocking, or movement.
7. Attach the Handle to the BabyBoarder Stick
- Align the "BabyBoarder" logo with the hole at the bottom of the stick.
- Firmly press handle to the stoppers making sure the handle is completely seated.
- Screw down the handle with one of the included screws
8. Perform a Final Safety Check
Before use:
- Hold the snowboard securely and gently move the rear binding in every direction.
- Confirm that the binding and base plate do not shift, lift, or rotate.
- Gently test the BabyBoarder Stick for looseness.
- Place the student's boot in the binding and check for interference.
- Confirm that all binding functions operate normally.
- Verify that the snowboard and binding remain undamaged.
Recheck all hardware after the first short practice session and periodically throughout the season. Inspect the installation again after any fall, impact, transportation, or unusual movement.
Do Not Use the Product If
Do not use the BabyBoarder Stick if:
- The binding or base plate moves.
- A screw cannot be fully and correctly installed.
- A screw bottoms out without securing the assembly.
- The base plate does not sit flat.
- Any component is cracked, bent, loose, or damaged.
- The installation interferes with the boot or binding.
- The snowboard or binding manufacturer prohibits the installation.
- You are uncertain about compatibility or correct installation.
Have the setup inspected by a qualified snowboard technician before use if there is any uncertainty.
Removal
To remove the BabyBoarder Stick and base plate:
- Remove the rear binding.
- Lift the base plate from the snowboard.
- Reinstall the binding using the binding manufacturer's original approved screws.
- Restore the rider's recorded stance width, angle, position, and centering.
- Perform a complete binding safety check before riding.
Do not reinstall the binding without the base plate using the longer BabyBoarder screws unless the snowboard and binding manufacturers confirm that the screw length is appropriate.
Important Warning

Use only the supplied hardware and follow all BabyBoarder, snowboard, and binding instructions. The BabyBoarder Stick is a training aid and must be used under direct adult supervision on suitable beginner terrain.
